Local Priorities House burglary Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding House burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Since 1st June 2025, the local area has seen an increase in Hanoi burglary. Also known as a 2 in 1 burglary.
Hanoi burglaries are a type of crime where burglars break into a house to steal car keys and then drive away with the vehicle. They are also known as 2-in-1 burglaries or car key burglaries. These crimes are often linked to organised crime groups that steal cars to order and use false number plates to avoid detection.

There have been 5 recorded Hanoi burglaries; 1 in Gilberdyke, 1 in Snaith, 1 in Portington, 1 in Goole and 1 in Rawcliffe which resulted in the loss of 6 cars; 3 of which have already been located and recovered.
High powered/high value vehicles are often the target of these crimes. These burglaries have included the theft of 2 x BMW's and 2 x Audi's.

According to police and security experts, there are some simple steps that homeowners can take to prevent becoming a victim of Hanoi burglaries. These include:

Parking your car in a garage if possible, or using a wheel clamp or steering lock
Keeping car keys out of view and easy reach, and not leaving them near windows or doors.
Locking doors and windows, and using reliable and effective house alarms.
Upgrading door locks on homes to ABS high security locks featuring active snap protection to secure against lock snapping, which is a common method of entry for burglars.
Installing new glass double glazed panels accredited to BS EN 14449 laminated glass to at least the main points of entry, such as patio doors or any external door with significant glass installed.
Making sure that valuable property is hidden from view and that lights are left on at various times, to give the impression that someone is home.
Installing CCTV systems where possible, and joining neighbourhood watch schemes.

By following these tips, you can reduce the risk of losing your car and your belongings to Hanoi burglars. Don't let them get away with your hard-earned possessions. Take action today and secure your car and home with ABS high security locks featuring active snap protection. Contact us now for more information.

French doors at the rear of properties are often the favoured method of entry into the address. A device known as a Patlock is a recommended security device to place on these type of doors.

PATLOCK is the Police approved home security product for French doors, Patio doors and Conservatories. Providing a visual deterrent to any would be intruders and instant peace of mind for home owners.

PATLOCK is suitable for double doors fitted with 2 horizontal handles and works by holding the internal door handles secure, meaning the external handles cannot be operated. This ensures that the door mechanism remains in the locked position, even if the locks are snapped or removed.

Burglary is a particularly invasive crime that can have a lasting impact on victims. If you have been a victim and need support and help, you should have been offered the services of Victim Support. You may have declined at the time, or not noticed the offer, but can refer yourself at any time by either calling 0808 168 9111 or visiting their website www.victimsupport.org.uk

Burglars do not want to get caught, so taking action to make your home or business premises safe and less attractive to thieves can go a long way to reducing the risk.
